Kazakhstan to redirect gas from export to local market

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 9. Kazakhstan will redirect 2 billion cubic meters of gas from Tengiz oil and gas field to the domestic market instead of exporting it, Kazakhstan's President Kassym Jomart Tokayev said, Trend reports citing Kazakh media.

Tokayev said that Kazakhstan may face a shortage of gas in the local market as early as 2023.

"Meeting the internal demand for gas has an unconditional priority over exports," the president stressed.

The government was instructed not to delay in allocating money for the construction of a gas processing plant at Kashagan oil field with a capacity of 1 billion cubic meters.
