An event and photo exhibition titled “Architect of Friendship – Heydar Aliyev” dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the birth of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, was held in Marneuli through the joint organization of the “Azerbaijan House” operating in Marneuli and the Georgia Azerbaijanis Integration Center (GAIC).
The event was attended by Fakhreddin Agayev, representative of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Georgia; Zaur Darghalli, member of the Parliament of Georgia; Daur Ismailov, Mayor of Marneuli; Giorgi Godabrelidze, First Deputy Mayor of Marneuli; Amiran Giorgadze, Chairman of the Marneuli Municipal Assembly, and Vice Chairman Vasil Khakhulashvili; as well as heads of municipal departments, authorized representatives of the Caucasus Muslims Office in Georgia Mohammed Shamilov and Sabir Musayev, General Director of the Georgian representation of Türkiye’s “Turkish Maarif Foundation” schools Faruk Tekşen and Marneuli branch head Murat Kördemir, former members of the Parliament of Georgia Isaq Novruzov, Ramiz Bakirov, and Ruslan Hajiyev, head of the Georgian Union of Azerbaijani Journalists Nizami Mammadzadeh, as well as public figures, intellectuals, and religious leaders from the Kvemo Kartli region.
At the beginning, the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was honored with a minute of silence.
Məhəbbət İmanov, director of GAIC, stated in his speech that Heydar Aliyev played a crucial role in strengthening Azerbaijani statehood, ensuring national unity, and developing Azerbaijan–Georgia relations.
Fakhreddin Agayev, representative of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Georgia, noted that Heydar Aliyev always attached special importance to Azerbaijan–Georgia friendship and consistently paid attention and care to Azerbaijanis living in Georgia.
Zaur Darghalli, member of the Parliament of Georgia, said that one of Heydar Aliyev’s greatest achievements was the formation of an independent and strong Azerbaijani state.
Speakers emphasized the historical friendship, mutual respect, and brotherhood between the peoples of Georgia and Azerbaijan.
Amiran Giorgadze, Chairman of the Municipal Assembly, and Vice Chairman Vasil Khakhulashvili noted that Heydar Aliyev played an important role in the development of Azerbaijan–Georgia friendship and strategic partnership relations, and that ties between the two countries further strengthened after his return to political leadership.
In the continuation of the event, Municipal Council member Anar Piriyev, former MPs Isaq Novruzov and Ramiz Bakirov, Azerbaijani Honored Journalist Nizami Mammadov, cleric Yasin Aliyev, public figure Növrəstə Maharram gizi, and other speakers discussed the friendship and strategic partnership relations established between Azerbaijan and Georgia during Heydar Aliyev’s leadership.
