An event dedicated to the sixth anniversary of 27 September – Remembrance Day was held in the city of Afula, Israel.
The event was organized by the Azerbaijan Cultural Center operating in Israel with the support of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The commemorative ceremony was attended by Afula Deputy Mayor Dmitri Bruk, head of the Absorption Department of Afula Municipality Inna Okun, local residents, as well as guests from nearby communities.
Opening the event, Yegana Salman, head of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Israel, provided detailed information about the history of the Karabakh conflict, Armenia’s unfounded territorial claims against Azerbaijan, and the devastating consequences of the long-term occupation of Azerbaijan’s territories. She emphasized that the restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity as a result of the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020 was a historic victory for the Azerbaijani people.
The speakers noted that representatives of the ethnic minorities living in Azerbaijan also demonstrated great heroism and fought in the wars for the country’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, with many attaining the status of martyrs.
Participants were presented with brochures prepared in Azerbaijani, Hebrew, English and Russian, providing information about Azerbaijan’s history, the realities of Karabakh, and 27 September – Remembrance Day.
Later, Stas Davydov, a graduate of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and a singer, performed patriotic and heroic songs in Azerbaijani and Judeo-Tat, as well as famous arias from the Italian operatic classical repertoire.
