The 8th Sister Karabakh Schools Summer Camp has officially opened in the French city of Colmar. The camp is organized with the support and coordination of the Azerbaijan Diaspora Support Fund, in cooperation with the Victory Public Union for Support to Families of Martyrs, the Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Switzerland, and the Weekend Karabakh School operating in Nantes, France.
The camp is being held in a scenic natural area near Colmar, surrounded by forests. Its program includes educational workshops, intellectual games, cultural and sporting activities, meetings dedicated to patriotism, and a range of other interactive events.
The camp has brought together children of Azerbaijani martyrs who lost their lives defending the country's territorial integrity and study in schools across Azerbaijan, along with students from the Weekend Karabakh School in Nantes.
Speaking at the opening ceremony were Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Diaspora Support Fund Akram Abdullayev, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Switzerland Gasim Nasirov, trainer Lala Huseynzade, and representative of the Azerbaijan-France Cultural Association Asband Fataliyeva. The speakers emphasized that supporting and caring for children remains one of the key priorities of Azerbaijan's state policy and highlighted the importance of the project in this regard.
The joint participation of children of martyrs and Azerbaijani children living abroad is expected to contribute to the development of a new generation of the Azerbaijani diaspora, strengthen ties with their homeland, and help young Azerbaijanis abroad gain a deeper understanding of Azerbaijan's history and the sacrifices made by those who gave their lives for the country's territorial integrity.
The 8th Sister Karabakh Schools Summer Camp began on July 17 and will continue through July 23.
