The implementation of the electronic permit (E-Permit) system for international cargo transportation has officially been launched between Azerbaijan and Georgia, the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency announced.
According to the agency, the decision was reached during the meeting of the Azerbaijan-Georgia Joint Commission on International Automobile Relations held in Baku on April 8–9 this year. Following the agreement, a joint working group comprising representatives of the relevant authorities from both countries began technical integration of the system on May 1, successfully completing the process.
After the integration was finalized, the first pilot shipments using E-Permit forms were successfully carried out. Based on the positive outcome of the pilot phase, Azerbaijan and Georgia initially exchanged 1,000 bilateral, 1,000 transit, and 1,000 third-country E-Permit forms to enable the active rollout of the system. Distribution of the electronic permits to carriers has already begun.
With the launch, Georgia becomes the fifth country to implement the E-Permit system with Azerbaijan. The system has previously been introduced with Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan.
The agency noted that carriers can obtain E-Permit forms through the e-xidmet.ayna.gov.az portal in a fully automated 24/7 mode without visiting any office, allowing permits to be issued remotely at any time.
According to the agency, the electronic permit system accelerates the issuance of transport permits, simplifies administrative procedures, reduces paper-based documentation, and supports the continued digitalization of international cargo transportation.
