Azerbaijan expands diaspora cooperation with Pakistan, Nigeria and Türkiye

During his visit to Türkiye, Fuad Muradov, Chairman of the State Committee for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, held meetings with Pakistan’s Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission Abike Dabiri-Erewa, and Abdullah Eren, Chairman of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).

The meetings focused on Azerbaijan’s diaspora policy, strengthening ties with Azerbaijanis living abroad, expanding cooperation among diaspora organizations, promoting the exchange of experience and implementing joint projects.

The sides also exchanged views on opportunities for cooperation within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, launching joint initiatives on international platforms, and jointly promoting the brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in third countries.

Muradov emphasized that expanding cooperation with international partners, further strengthening the activities of the Azerbaijani diaspora and mobilizing the potential of Azerbaijanis living abroad around common goals are among the key priorities.

The sides provided information about the activities of the institutions they lead and expressed interest in developing cooperation with Azerbaijan in the field of diaspora affairs. They also agreed to expand existing ties and develop new joint projects.

The meetings were attended by Valeh Hajiyev, First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Diaspora Affairs; Perviz Mammadzade, Adviser to the Chairman of the Federation of Türkiye-Azerbaijan Associations; Murva Suleyman, Third Secretary at the Embassy of Pakistan in Türkiye; and other officials.
