Yefim Abramov, a member of the Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan, director and screenwriter, has died in Israel.
Born in Baku in 1948, Yefim Abramov graduated from the directing faculty of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography. He worked for many years at the Azerbaijanfilm film studio and made a significant contribution to the development of Azerbaijani cinema.
Abramov participated in the production of such films as Don’t Be Afraid, I’m with You!, The Trouble-Maker, The Anecdote and other screen works.
After moving to Israel in 1990, Yefim Abramov maintained close ties with his homeland and remained active in promoting Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage and developing cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Israel.
The death of the filmmaker, who made an important contribution to the development of Azerbaijani cinema, is considered a major loss for the country’s cultural community.
The leadership and staff of the State Committee for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan expressed their deep sorrow over Yefim Abramov’s death and extended their heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.
