Azerbaijani community marks Georgian language day

Ethnic Azerbaijanis marked April 14 – the Day of Protection of the Georgian Language and Mother Tongue Day in Georgia – by organizing a series of events.

At the Georgian Azerbaijanis Integration Center in Marneuli, an educational meeting was held to mark the occasion. Teacher Nübar Bayramova provided participants with detailed information about the history of the Georgian language, its stages of development, and its important role in the country’s rich cultural heritage. She emphasized that the Georgian language stands out globally due to its unique alphabet and ancient writing traditions, and that preserving and developing the language plays a key role in shaping national identity. Interactive discussions and a Q&A session further increased students’ interest in the topic.

Another event took place at the Caucasus Center for Law and Integration in Bolnisi. Executive Director Rezo Hasanov and Georgian language teacher Alidə Mammadalizada spoke about the historical significance of the day. Discussions with young people focused on the antiquity, richness, and uniqueness of the Georgian language. A thematic exhibition corner was set up at the center’s entrance, where short videos and related images were presented.
