A commemoration ceremony was held at Heydar Aliyev Park in the Turkish city of Kars on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
The event, organized by the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Kars, began with flowers being laid in front of the bust of Heydar Aliyev, followed by a minute of silence in honor of his memory.
Among those attending the ceremony were Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Kars Zamin Aliyev, Chairman of the Federation of Turkish Azerbaijani Associations (TADEF) Adalet Turan, advisor Parviz Mammadzade, Chairperson of the Territorial Party Organization of the New Azerbaijan Party at the Institute of Folklore of ANAS and Associate Professor Ilhama Gasabova, musicians from Azerbaijan and Türkiye participating in the event titled “From Azerbaijan to Kars: The Bridge of Saz and Words,” representatives of local associations and media, Azerbaijanis living in Kars, and staff members of the Consulate General.
Consul General Zamin Aliyev spoke about the special role of Heydar Aliyev in shaping and developing the brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, emphasizing that the principle of “One nation, two states” continues to form the foundation of relations between the two countries today.
Recalling Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s famous words, “Azerbaijan’s joy is our joy, and its sorrow is our sorrow,” the Consul General stated that Türkiye’s political and moral support for Azerbaijan during the 44-day Patriotic War will never be forgotten.
Other speakers shared fond memories from Heydar Aliyev’s visit to Kars in 2002 and spoke about his remarkable life journey, outstanding statesmanship, personal and professional qualities, as well as his important contributions to strengthening Azerbaijan–Türkiye brotherly relations.
