A Novruz celebration event was held at the Azerbaijani language school operating under the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board in Canada. The event was organized by Jamila Shepherd, head of the Hamilton Azerbaijani Society, and initiated by the school’s Azerbaijani language teacher, Hormat Murshudova.
During the celebration, students dressed in national costumes presented information about the history, traditions, and symbols of Novruz. The presentations were delivered in both Azerbaijani and English, allowing guests and parents of different nationalities to gain a deeper understanding of the holiday.
Students recited poems dedicated to Novruz and performed Azerbaijani national dances.
The children’s performances showcased the richness of Azerbaijani culture.
Parents and guests attending the event expressed their gratitude to the organizers. They emphasized that such events play an important role in helping children living abroad better understand their native language and national identity, while also promoting Azerbaijani culture internationally.
