Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of Azerbaijan Fuad Muradov met with the Mufti of the Poland and Chairman of the Supreme Muslim College of the Muslim Religious Union in Poland, Tomasz Miśkiewicz, who is currently on a visit to Azerbaijan. The meeting focused on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest, including the activities of the Azerbaijani community in Poland.
Welcoming the guest, Muradov noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Poland have deep historical roots and have entered a new stage of development under the leadership of Ilham Aliyev. He подчеркнул that tolerance and multiculturalism are key priorities of state policy in Azerbaijan, where different religious and cultural communities live in harmony.
During the meeting, information was provided about the Committee’s projects and programs, including the work of 17 Coordination Councils operating in 44 countries to support the global Azerbaijani diaspora. Details were also shared about 32 Azerbaijan Houses in 20 countries, which assist compatriots in their social, cultural, and economic lives. Two such centers are located in Warsaw and Krakow, playing an important role in diaspora development.
It was noted that Poland hosts one of the largest Azerbaijani communities in Europe after Germany. The community’s active integration into local society and participation in public, political, and cultural life were highlighted, alongside ongoing efforts to ensure sustainable diaspora engagement.
Tomasz Miśkiewicz expressed gratitude for the warm reception, praising the successful integration of Azerbaijanis in Poland and their active role in various sectors. He also commended Azerbaijan’s achievements in religious tolerance and multiculturalism, describing the country as a model in this field.
Poland’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Paweł Radomski, emphasized the strong potential to further develop cooperation between the two countries, including in diaspora affairs, and expressed satisfaction with the development of the Azerbaijani community in Poland.
During the meeting, Tomasz Miśkiewicz was awarded the Azerbaijani medal “For Service in Diaspora Activities,” which he described as a sign of great trust from the Azerbaijani state.
The meeting concluded with discussions on expanding and deepening cooperation, highlighting its importance for strengthening Azerbaijan–Poland relations, particularly in the field of diaspora engagement.
