An extensive interview with Seymur Nasirov, Chairman of the Egypt-Azerbaijan Friendship Society and the Azerbaijani diaspora in Egypt, as well as a researcher-scholar, has been published in Egypt’s influential Al-Wafd newspaper.
In the interview, the scholar spoke about the activities of the organization he leads, as well as the historical and cultural ties between Azerbaijan and Egypt. He noted that the mutual visits of the two countries’ presidents have made a significant contribution to the further development of political, economic, and trade relations.
The author also touched upon Azerbaijan’s important initiatives in combating Islamophobia, emphasizing that the country demonstrates an active stance on this issue at the international level.
The researcher highlighted that relations between Egypt and Azerbaijan are at a high level. According to him, throughout history, many Azerbaijani scholars and intellectuals have worked, studied, and held high-ranking positions in Egypt. Even today, numerous works and valuable manuscripts by Azerbaijani scholars are preserved in Egyptian libraries.
Seymur Nasirov also noted that being awarded the First-Class Order of “Science and Arts” by the President of Egypt last September is a clear indication of the high level of relations between Azerbaijan and Egypt.
