Ottawa school holds lesson on Azerbaijani genocide and April battles

A special lesson dedicated to March 31 – the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis – and the 10th anniversary of the April battles was held at the “Karabakh” Azerbaijani language school in Ottawa, Canada.

The lesson began with the playing of the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Canada, followed by a one-minute silence in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the homeland.

Vusal Suleymanov, the Chargé d’Affaires of Azerbaijan in Canada, emphasized that in March 1918, the Azerbaijani people faced one of the most horrific tragedies in their history. He noted that tens of thousands of peaceful compatriots were brutally killed solely because of their national identity.

Co-founder of the “Karabakh” Azerbaijani language school, Vusale Ahmadova, and teacher Ulviye Rahimova stressed the importance of conveying the truth about these bloody crimes against Azerbaijanis to the global community more widely and comprehensively.

Speakers also discussed the battles of April 1–2, 2016, triggered by provocations of Armenian armed forces, highlighting the historical significance of the successful counter-offensive operations conducted by the Azerbaijani Army.

During the lesson, video clips dedicated to the March 31 Genocide and the glorious April battles, culminating in a historic victory for the Azerbaijani Army, were shown.
