Azerbaijan joins Turkic night 2026 in Essen

Azerbaijan participated in the “Turkic Night – 2026” event held in Essen.

The event, organized by the Association of Turkish University Students in Germany, showcased the cultural values, rich musical traditions, and cuisine of Azerbaijan, as well as those of Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tatarstan, Turkmenistan, and the Uyghur community.

Azerbaijan was represented by pianist Sabina Mammadova, head of the “Mugham” German-Azerbaijani Music Society based in Düsseldorf. She introduced guests visiting the Azerbaijani stand to national dishes, as well as the country’s rich cultural heritage, mugham tradition, and customs.

The artistic part of the evening attracted particular interest. Sabina Mammadova and balaban player Mehman Nuriyev performed works by prominent composers such as Tofig Guliyev’s “Girls” and Alakbar Taghiyev’s “Wind,” as well as folk classics “Lachin” and “Sari Gelin.” Their performance was met with sustained applause.

The event also featured Kyrgyz artist Sabat N. Meerim and Tatar performer Adelya, who presented a diverse musical program.

“Turkic Night – 2026” contributed to strengthening solidarity and friendship among communities sharing common roots.
