BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 20. The Iranian government has decided to increase the rent in Tehran to a maximum of 25 percent, while in other cities to a maximum of 20 percent, Trend reports citing IRNA.
The decision was made at a meeting of the Supreme Economic Coordination Council of the Three Branches, chaired by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.
Necessary rules for guaranteeing the implementation of the mentioned decision have been regulated and approved.
During the mentioned meeting, the government also made a proposal to reduce inflation and manage liquidity in country, and it was decided to study the proposal in detail.
The monthly rent for 1 square meter of housing in Tehran reached about 1.27 million rials (about $30.2) over last month (April 21through May 21).
Meanwhile, in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), the monthly rent for 1 square meter of housing in Tehran amounted to 848,000 rials (about $20.2). This means that the monthly rent has increased by about 50 percent.
