BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 11. Kyrgyzstan plans to build a 'smart city', backed by financial support from South Korea, Trend reports with the reference to the National Investments Agency under the President of Kyrgyzstan.
According to the agency, the total cost of the project is estimated at $500 million and construction is planned near the Issyk-Kul International Airport in Tamchy, Issyk-Kul region.
The project is being implemented as part of the global cooperation program (K-City Network), aiming to build an environmentally friendly city that minimizes the environmental impact of the development of an energy-independent city using renewable energy sources.
K-City Network program aims to foster smart city cooperation between South Korea and other countries. This year, the application from Kyrgyzstan was approved by Korea Water Resources Corporation.
