TEHRAN, Iran, October 24. Iran’s permanent membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will provide opportunities for economic ties with Central Asian countries, said Chairman of Iran- Uzbekistan Joint Chamber of Commerce Musa Aghaei, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"The Shanghai Cooperation Organization could be a base for promoting economic ties and Iran could use this opportunity to interact with the SCO member states," he said.
He pointed out that Iran’s membership in the SCO would affect the transit cooperation with other member countries.
"The International North South Transportation Corridor (INSTC) is a good opportunity for Central Asian countries for having access to the global market via Iran routes," he said, adding that Iran could make all efforts to activate the corridor and provide access to Central Asia.
According to the official, Central Asian countries could supply essential goods to Iran as part of boosting economic ties.
