New railway cars put into operation in Iran

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 24. As many as 413 newly manufactured and repaired railway vehicles were put into use in Iran on October 23, Trend reports citing the Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

Regarding to the launch of the mentioned railway vehicles, an event was held in the country. The event was attended by Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rostam Ghasemi, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and the CEO of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (IRIR), Miad Salehi said and other officials.

In total, about 10.3 trillion rials (about $244 million) has been spent on these railway vehicles.

According to the report, 406 freight wagons at a cost of 8.36 trillion rials (about $199 million) and 7 locomotives at a cost of 1.91 trillion rials (about $45.4 million) were delivered to the Iranian railway network.

Within the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through May 21, 2022), 319 railway vehicles were put into use in Iran. In total, 732 railway vehicles have been launched in the current Iranian year, which shows a 119 percent increase compared to the same period last Iranian year.
