BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 27. The World Food programme (WFP) has revealed an average wage of skilled and unskilled laborers in Tajikistan in September 2022, Trend reports citing WFP's Tajikistan Quarterly Household Food Security and Market Update.
According to the WFP, during the reporting month, the daily average wage of skilled laborers in farming and construction work in Tajikistan was about 105 somoni ($10.2), and of unskilled laborers - about 72 somoni ($7).
"Laborers of Tajikistan get jobs for 4-5 days a week on average. Thus, the monthly average wage of skilled laborers in this month was about 2,093 somoni ($204.8) and of unskilled laborers, it was about 1,158 somoni ($113.3)," the organization said.
At the same time, the average cost of the household food basket in September 2022 was 1,670 somoni ($163.4) per month. Hence, skilled laborers earned slightly more than what was needed to afford at least one household food basket in a month, while unskilled laborers could afford the household food basket for 20 days per month.
