BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 24. The volume of foreign direct investment of the EU in Kazakhstan in 2022 reached record levels in the past 10 years, Trend reports.
This was stated at the meeting of the Kazakhstan-EU Cooperation Committee chaired by Kazakhstan's Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of Kairat Torebayev and the European Commission Head of Unit for Southern neighbors, Middle East, Türkiye, Russia, Belarus and Central Asia Nele Eichhorn.
It was noted that the volume of direct investments from the EU into Kazakhstan's economy surged by almost 23 percent in the previous year, reaching a substantial amount of $12.5 billion.
Meanwhile, over 3,000 companies with European capital participation are currently operating successfully in various sectors of Kazakhstan's economy. Among them are global major companies such as Shell, Eni, Total, Air Liquide, Alstom, Siemens, and Linde Group.
Overall, during the first quarter of 2023, the total trade volume between Kazakhstan and the EU amounted to $10.2 billion, demonstrating a notable growth of 12.5 percent compared to the previous year's figure of $9.1 billion for the same period.
