An Azerbaijani young researcher living in Warsaw, Poland, Ülkər Cabbarlı, is attracting attention with her significant achievements in various fields of science.
A graduate of Baku Engineering University and currently a PhD candidate at the University of Warsaw, Ülkər Cabbarlı works as a researcher in the prestigious “OPUS 27” project funded by Poland’s National Science Centre. She studies the electronic properties of two-dimensional materials using artificial intelligence and density functional theory.
She is also a member of the Board of the Council of Azerbaijanis in Poland and actively participates in events that strengthen the organization’s role in promoting the truth about Azerbaijan across Europe.
Cabbarlı represented Azerbaijan at the 2025 OSCE Warsaw Human Dimension Conference. She responded with facts to the provocative claims of Armenian NGOs and presented Azerbaijan’s humanitarian position to the international audience.
She completed her master’s degree at the University of Warsaw with excellent results and ranked among the top five applicants admitted to the doctoral program. She is the first woman and the first international student to achieve this in the field of physics.
As the first Azerbaijani student to intern at Poland’s NOMATEN Institute, she produced two scientific works on hydrogen energy and published articles in international peer-reviewed journals. She also conducts joint research with Delft University of Technology and University College London, studying the electronic behavior of 2D alloys using machine-learning models.
Alongside her scientific work, Cabbarlı is also involved in supporting women in STEM. She is a recipient of the “Women in STEM” grant as well as the scholarship named after Hokuma Aliyeva.
She is also active in educational and cultural initiatives. At the “Youth Perspectives on Western Azerbaijan Realities” seminar held at the Azerbaijan House in Warsaw, she contributed significantly to raising awareness among young people and promoting issues of historical memory and national identity among Azerbaijanis living in Europe.
