The filmmakers share their experience of visiting amazing Uzbekistan, talk about the most interesting tourist routes of the country that are not mentioned in the guidebooks.
Valdis Pelšs: “We invite you to travel and, together with the film crew, visit the ancient city, the same age as Rome and Babylon, once the center of the Great Silk Road – Samarkand. Visit not only its main square – the Registan, but also learn how the most accurate astronomical calculations in the world by Mirzo Ulugbek were created 500 years ago; how more than 2,000 years ago they made the most durable paper. Visit Tashkent: it is being built very quickly. Despite the seismically active zone, now there are skyscraper hotels here! Visit the world’s most powerful unique Solar Furnace, capable of producing temperatures over 3000 degrees Celsius in a few seconds. And of course, visit the flowering poppy fields”.
Yelena Potanina: “What is most striking in the country is its versatility, cultural and natural variability, due to the presence of various natural zones. But what always makes the biggest impression is the people, their talents and hospitality! Be sure to visit Rishtan, the oldest center of ceramic art in Central Asia, because for a long time the entire male population of this city was engaged in pottery. Try suqoq-samsa: its main ingredient is not lamb at all, but a special green – mador, translated into English means “strength”. Enjoy the beauty of fabrics, carpets, there will be plenty of impressions!”
The film “Uzbekistan. Looking over the Horizon” is a personal experience of a long trip, which left the best impression and allows one to recommend the country for travel.
