BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 11. The inflow of foreign direct investments to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $1 billion in 2022, which is an increase of 4 percent compared to 2021, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.
The inflow of direct investments to the country exceeded the outflow by $290.8 million in the reporting period.
The main volume of foreign direct investments, more than 95 percent, were aimed at the development of the enterprises in mining, manufacturing, financial intermediation and insurance, wholesale and retail trade, as well as information and communications.
The volume of the investments provided not by the CIS (the Commonwealth of Independent States) countries increased by 8.4 percent last year over the indicators of 2021.
The investments from the South Korea rose by 18.1 times, from Kuwait – by 15.4 times, from Japan – by 11.1 times, from the UAE – by 5 times, from Germany – by 2.6 times and from Türkiye – by 1.4 times.
In the total volume of the foreign direct investments the largest share of 30.7 percent falls on Türkiye, following by China (26.3 percent), Netherlands (5.9 percent) and the UK (2.88 percent).
Meanwhile, the volume of foreign direct investments from the CIS decreased by 12 percent compared to 2021, mainly due to the reduction of investments from Kazakhstan by 20.1 percent, and from Russia by 9 percent.
In the reporting period, the increase was registered in the foreign direct investments inflow to the enterprises of Kyrgyzstan’s Batken region, Talas region, Jalal-Abad region and Osh city.
