BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 22. The UN World Food Programme (WFP) will allocate funds to overcome poverty in Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration of Kyrgyzstan.
According to the WFP's strategic plan for 2023-2027, Kyrgyzstan will receive support in the amount of $90 million for the implementation of various programs to overcome poverty and maintain food security.
In addition, another $15 million will be provided for projects aimed at active measures to combat poverty in the country.
The Minister of Labor, Social Security, and Migration Kudaibergen Bazarbaev noted that in just 9 months of this year, over 30,500 low-income families in Kyrgyzstan were able to take part in various projects of the Ministry of Labour, Social Security, and Migration.
"Over 108,000 Kyrgyz people took part in projects to improve local infrastructure, for which they received flour and vegetable oil. Another 2,900 people started their own business by signing a social contract with the state and receiving free funds from the budget," he said.
