BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 23. The amount of Turkmen natural gas exports via pipeline to China from January through November 2022 has been announced, Trend reports with reference to the Business Turkmenistan website.
During the reporting period, Turkmenistan exported $9.28 billion worth of natural gas to China, remaining the top exporter of gas to China. Russia comes in second ($3.5 billion).
Currently, Turkmen gas is supplied to China via three pipelines running along the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China route. Their total throughput capacity is 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
Furthermore, an agreement was reached in February 2022 on the construction of the fourth line of the gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to China. It is expected that its commissioning will allow Turkmenistan to increase annual gas supplies to 65 billion cubic meters.
Turkmenistan exported about 34 billion cubic meters of natural gas to China in 2021.
