During an interview with local television channels on January 5, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev emphasized the importance of preserving the Azerbaijani language and ensuring that Azerbaijanis living abroad have a strong command of their mother tongue.
The President’s remarks were described as an important roadmap for Azerbaijanis living abroad. Compatriots noted that the interview makes a significant contribution to systematizing diaspora activities and ensuring the transmission of national identity and the native language to future generations.
Through weekend schools and cultural centers operating abroad, interest in the Azerbaijani language and culture is growing not only among compatriots but also within local communities.
One of the active representatives promoting the teaching of the
Azerbaijani language outside the country is Safaya Naibova. She has
taught Azerbaijani to hundreds of young compatriots and Ukrainians
at educational institutions in Kyiv.
“Our language is enchanting and poetic. Ukrainians often say that
Azerbaijani is a musical language. Even Ukrainian women who marry
Azerbaijani men apply to learn the Azerbaijani language,” Naibova
said.
She also noted that, with the direct attention of President
Ilham Aliyev and the support of the State Committee on Work with
Diaspora, the number of Azerbaijani language schools abroad is
steadily increasing.
“As our respected President said, the more we protect our language
and keep it pure and clean, the purer our nation will be, and our
national identity will always remain strong,” she added.
