A meeting of representatives of state bodies responsible for diaspora affairs from the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in Vienna, the capital of Austria. The event was organized by the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan, with the support of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), and in partnership with the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Austria and the Azerbaijan Cultural Center.
The meeting, held at the Azerbaijan Cultural Center, was attended by the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Kubanychbek Omuraliev; the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Austria, Rovshan Sadigbayli; the Ambassador of Türkiye to Austria, Gürsel Dönmez; the Permanent Representative of Türkiye to the United Nations, Levent Eler; the Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the United Nations (Vienna), Nurjan Shaildabekova; representatives of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora; and officials responsible for diaspora affairs from OTS member states.
Speaking at the event, OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev emphasized the special importance of deepening ties among diaspora institutions of the member states and ensuring more coordinated activities. He noted that the Diaspora Capacity Building training programs held within the framework of the event serve as an important platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience.
Ambassador Rovshan Sadigbayli stated that such initiatives contribute to the Turkic diaspora presenting a stronger and more unified position on the international stage.
Officials of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Leyla Hamzayeva and Shafaq Binnetova, provided extensive information about the large-scale projects implemented by the Committee and its strategic goals. They also spoke about the work carried out within the framework of cooperation with the member states of the Organization of Turkic States.
Other speakers addressed issues related to the organization of Turkic communities living abroad and the involvement of youth in diaspora processes, emphasizing the necessity of strengthening institutional cooperation among diaspora bodies of OTS member states.
The meeting continued with an exchange of views, sharing of experience gained in the field of diaspora affairs, and discussions on future cooperation opportunities.
