BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 27. Turkmenistan is working on the preparation of the Second Voluntary National Review (VNR) on the progress of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), UN Resident Coordinator to Turkmenistan, Dmitry Shlapachenko told Trend.
"Turkmenistan will present its VNR at the High-level Political Forum under the auspices of ESCAP in New York in July 2023. At the moment, multilateral consultations are taking place with the technical support of UNESCAP. These consultations will help to obtain information on the achievement of the SDGs, priorities and potential for future development in order to accelerate the implementation of the global agenda for the period up to 2030," he said.
According to him, the UN's efforts are aimed at facilitating the priority development requests of the Government of Turkmenistan in accordance with the framework program of cooperation between the UN and Turkmenistan in the field of sustainable development.
"To this end, a series of dialogues on the SDGs were organized in the field of issues such as improving the efficiency of freight transportation during the pandemic; reform of the social protection system, including subsidies for social support, as well as improving the efficiency of cotton and textile production. These dialogues served as an effective platform for the active involvement of experts from the UNECE, UNESCAP, UNDP, IRU, UNICEF, ILO, WB and the IMF," Shlapachenko added.
