BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 11. Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries Inc. announced the completion of the first stage of starting-up and adjustment works at the integrated gas chemical plant near Atyrau city, Trend reports via KazMunayGas.
The plant started supplying propane to process units. This week, the company will begin the second stage of starting-up and adjustment works - loading the catalyst into propane dehydrogenation reactors. The start of production at the plant is scheduled for August.
The integrated gas chemical plant near Atyrau will be the first major project in the petrochemical industry of Kazakhstan.
The plant will produce polypropylene from propane from the Tengiz field. This is the main raw material for the production of plastic threads, pipes, films, bags, medical and other products.
The plant's capacity will be 500,000 tons of polypropylene per year.
