TEHRAN, Iran, April 30.Director-General of Grain and Commercial Services Department of Khuzestan Province Omid Jahan-Nejadian said the government imports thousand tons of wheat through the Imam Khomeini port, Trendreports citing IRNA.
“In March-April, some 361,000 tons have been unloaded at the port of Imam Khomeini,” said Jahan-Nejadian.
"The Government Trading Corporation registered the order for import of five cargos of wheat,” he said.
Last year, a total of 2,975,000 tons of wheat, and about 17 million tons of basic goods (livestock feed inputs and grains) were imported into the country through the port of Imam Khomeini.
Over 80 percent of the required basic goods are imported through the port of Imam Khomeini, in Khuzestan Province.
According to IRNA, the import of basic goods, especially wheat, has increased due to insufficient rainfall in the last two years.
