BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 25. In Tajikistan's Tursunzoda harvesting of "shohon" grape variety has already started, Trend reports with reference to the mir24.tv.
Currently, local farmers of Tursunzoda are collecting 500 kilograms of "shohon" grape per day on a vineyard of 500 hectares.
About 15 00 tons of berries are harvested here during a season, half of which is exported mostly to Russia. In addition to the early "shohon" grapes, local grape varieties "president", "cardinal" and a new variety "avatar" are also grown here.
Notably, Tursunzoda is considered to be the "grape capital" of Tajikistan. Harvesting is a significant source of income for the residents that live close to the vineyards.
