BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 23. SCADA system will be applied in gas supply in Azerbaijan by 2026, Trend reports with reference to the Strategy for socio-economic development of Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026.
SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) is a category of software applications for controlling industrial processes, which is the gathering of data in real time from remote locations in order to control equipment and conditions.
Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR will be involved in the process of creating this system.
During this period, it is planned to fulfil the proposals on creating a SCADA-system, to apply it in stages and eventually fully.
Moreover, SOCAR will be engaged in improving the quality of natural gas from 2022 to 2026. To this end, it will take measures to tighten the control on gas quality. By the end of the period the quality of natural gas will meet the state standards.
The data provided by SOCAR reveals that natural gas consumption in Azerbaijan rose by 3 percent in Q2 2022 as compared to the same period in 2021 and stood at 2.2 billion cubic meters. The increase in consumption was driven by the production boost at carbamide and methanol plants, as well as rising level of gas supply throughout the country. Azerbaijan produced more than 11.6 billion cubic meters of gas, with 5.5 billion cubic meters accounting for exports.
