OPEC expects rise in Kazakhstan’s oil output in 2023

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 14. Kazakhstan’s liquids output in 2023 is expected to increase by 159,000 b/d, Trend reports via monthly oil outlook from OPEC.

Thus, the country's oil production this year is expected at 1.9 mb/d.

"Kazakhstan’s crude production was under pressure in February due to the temporary suspension of loadings at the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk because of bad weather. It returned to normal operations on 27 February," the report said.

Moreover, as OPEC noted, the production ram-up at Kashagan oil field, increase in oil output from the Tengiz field and gas condensate production at the Karachaganak field are forecast to boost significantly in 2023.

According to the report, Kazakhstan's oil output in January 2023 declined by 14,000 b/d month-on-month to an average of 2 mb/d.

"Crude production was up by a minor 6,000 b/d month-on-month to average 1.6 mb/d, while NGLs and condensate fell by 20,000 b/d month-on-month to average 0.3 mb/d. Kazakhstan's liquids supply for 2022 is forecast to have declined by 44,000 b/d year-on-year to average 1.8 mb/d. This is broadly unchanged compared with the previous month's assessment," OPEC added.
