Iran Customs Administration observes decrease in monthly imports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 1. Iran's imports decreased by 13 percent in value and 24.8 percent in volume, during the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), compared to the same month in the last year, Trend reports referring to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

In total, Iran imported 1.83 million tons of goods worth $3.08 billion for the 1st month.

The main 5 products imported by Iran in the first month were corn feed worth $223 million, soybean seeds worth $152 million, rice worth $89 million, mobile phones worth $71 million, and spare parts for passenger cars worth $62 million.

In the 1st month, Iran imported goods worth $1.01 billion from the UAE, worth $873 million from China, worth $353 million from Türkiye, worth $129 million from Germany and worth $110 million from India. The mentioned 5 countries accounted for 80 percent of Iran's total imports in value for the reporting month.

Meanwhile, the value of Iran's total non-oil trade turnover stood at $6.73 billion for the 1st month.

Overall, Iran imported a total of 37.1 million tons of goods worth approximately $59.7 billion for the last Iranian year, which is an increase of 13 percent in volume, while a decrease of 10 percent in volume compared to the preceding year.

Last year, Iran's total non-oil trade turnover amounted to over 159 million tons worth approximately $113 billion. The trade turnover increased by 11.2 percent in value compared to the preceding year.
