BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 3. The volume of mutual trade in food products between Kazakhstan and the EU countries increased by 35 percent, reaching almost $1 billion, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said, Trend reports.
He made the remark at the Central Asia-EU summit held in Kyrgyzstan today.
"There are great prospects for cooperation between Kazakhstan and the EU in agriculture field. Our country exports 5 million tons of cereals and 1.5 million tons of flour annually to the European partners. This is far from the limit. Already today, our farmers are ready to increase export supplies of cereals and oilseeds, other products. Using mutual potential in agrarian sphere, we can significantly strengthen food security of our regions," he said.
At the same time, President Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan is ready to increase its exports to the EU countries by 175 non-primary commodity items worth $2.3 billion in such areas as mechanical engineering, iron and steel production, food industry.
Meanwhile, the total trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the EU countries in 2022 has reached an impressive $40 billion.
