Kazakhstan outlines timeframe for facilitating transportation of Russia’s gas to Uzbekistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 5. Kazakhstan’s energy infrastructure will be ready for the transit of Russian gas to Uzbekistan by the autumn-winter season of 2024, Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, Almasadam Satkaliyev, told journalists, Trend reports.

According to the minister, negotiations between Uzbekistan and Gazprom regarding the volumes and price of gas are still ongoing. The Kazakhstani side has already expressed its readiness to ensure the transit, he added.

"Once these negotiations are concluded, we will be ready to provide our infrastructure. We are talking about having this infrastructure ready by the autumn-winter season of next year. We are interested in this transit and in receiving funds for the transit, as well as in increasing the reliability of energy supply to the Central Asian region," he said.

Earlier, Minister Satkaliyev held discussions regarding the possibility of transiting Russian gas to Uzbekistan through Kazakhstan during a meeting of the government on May 16.

Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, noted that the discussion of commercial conditions for the supply of Russian gas will begin only after resolving technical issues.
