BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 27. Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates launched the operations of the Caspian Integrated Maritime Solutions (CIMS) transport company, Trend reports, citing KazMunayGas.
The official launch was carried out in the framework of the online meeting between Magzum Mirzagaliyev, KazMunayGas CEO, and Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Abu Dhabi Ports Group CEO.
CIMS was registered on 13 February 2023 in the “Astana” International Finance Center.
The company was created jointly between Kazmortransflot and the Abu Dhabi Ports Group as a part of the earlier Agreement on Strategic Partnership between KazMunayGas and the Abu Dhabi Ports Group. The agreement envisaged the creation of a fleet that provides offshore projects in the Caspian Sea (various types of small-tonnage vessels), as well as a tanker fleet to develop alternative routes for the export of Kazakh oil towards Azerbaijan through the port of Aktau.
In addition, the signatories agreed to explore opportunities for creating a merchant fleet, including building or purchasing container ferries for transit from China to Europe via the Trans-Caspian route, and dry cargo ships to participate in the cargo transportation along the North-South route.
