Kazakhstan names number of its regions with accelerated inflation in September 2022

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 17. Annual inflation accelerated in 20 regions of Kazakhstan in September 2022, the head of the real sector monitoring section of the Monetary Policy Department at the country’s National Bank (NBK) Igor Osipov said, Trend reports via the NBK.

According to Osipov, in the reporting month, this figure amounted to 17.7 percent (compared to 16.1 percent in August).

The greatest acceleration was recorded in Astana (from 17.3 percent in August to 20 percent in September).

The growth rates of prices for food products in September accelerated to 22.2 percent on annual basis (compared to 20.8 percent in August). The maximum growth for the products was recorded in the Mangistau region (29.7 percent).

Meanwhile, the growth rates of prices for non-food products also accelerated - to 17 percent year on year (compared to 15.5 percent in August). The maximum growth was recorded in Astana (26.3 percent), and the minimum - in Almaty (13.8 percent).

Prices for paid services last month increased by 12.3 percent year on year, while prices rose significantly above the national level in the Ulytau region (by 16.5 percent), and significantly lower - in the Aktobe region (by 8.2 percent).

Monthly inflation in the reporting month in the country amounted to 1.8 percent, which is much higher than the average monthly inflation of September prices over the past five years (0.3 percent from 2017 through 2021).

Prices rose above their historical average level in September 2022 in all regions of Kazakhstan. The greatest acceleration of monthly inflation was noted in Astana (2.8 percent).
