Türkiye sees sharp growth in passenger traffic at Ankara Esenboga Int'l Airport

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 19. The total passenger traffic at the Ankara Esenboga International Airport of Türkiye grew by 39 percent in February and totaled 1.62 million people, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye told TurkicWorld, Trendreports.

According to the ministry, in February, the airport's passenger traffic on domestic flights increased by 37 percent to 1.31 million people, and on international flights - by 47 percent to 309,317 people.

The airport's cargo turnover in February this year amounted to 15,564 tons, which is 20 percent more compared to the same period in 2022.

In addition, during this period, the airport's cargo turnover on domestic flights increased by 23 percent compared to the same period in 2022 and amounted to 10,513 tons, while on international flights - by 14 percent to 5,051 tons.

According to the ministry, the number of flights operated from the airport in February 2023 increased by 35 percent compared to the same period in 2022 and amounted to 13,807.

At the same time, the number of domestic flights increased by 40 percent, to 11,172, whereas international flights - by 16 percent, to 2,635.

In February 2023, passenger traffic at all airports in Türkiye amounted to 25.3 million people, while cargo turnover totaled 430,212 tons.

Meanwhile, in 2022, passenger traffic at all airports in Türkiye reached 181.9 million people, while cargo turnover amounted to more than 4 million tons.
