BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 11. The Turkish ports received 3,825 ships in February 2023, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye said, Trend reports.
According to the ministry, during this period, the number of ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 1,128, while ships under the flags of other countries totaled 2,697.
From January through February 2023, a total number of vessels received by Turkish ports reached 8,173 ships.
"In the indicated period, the number of ships flying the flags of other countries stood at 5,772, whereas ships under the Turkish flag made up 2,401," the ministry said.
In 2021, the ports received 51,199 ships (15,120 – under Turkish flag, and 36,079 – under the flags of other countries.
Turkish ports handled 32.03 million tons of cargo in December 2022. Ships flying the Turkish flag delivered 2.5 million tons of cargo, while ships under the flags of other countries – 29.498 million tons to local ports. In addition, Turkish ports transshipped 7.26 million tons of transit cargo in December 2022.
From January through December 2022, the ports of Türkiye transported 394.09 million tons of freight.
During this period, cargo traffic by ships under the Turkish flag amounted to 28.4 million tons, whilst by ships under the flags of other countries – 365.6 million tons. Thus, Turkish ports handled 81.018 million tons of transit cargo in 2022.
