Iran’s oil minister calls on boosting ties with GECF

TEHRAN, Iran, October 27. Iran Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji stressed the key role of members of GECF in promoting global energy security, Trend reports citing ILNA.

Speaking at the 24th Ministerial Meeting of Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Cairo minister expressed Iran’s readiness to play a prominent role in ensuring energy security in the world.

Owji has underlined the strategic position of the GECF member countries and their 50 percent share of gas and LNG export to the global market adding that it’s essential to strengthen the potential and capabilities and cooperation among members.

The official has criticized the sanctions against Iran as the important owner of natural gas reserves in the world stressing that it would have an irreparable impact.

The Iranian oil minister has pointed out the importance of environmental issues in the framework of the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Climate Change Convention.

It is necessary for developing and developed countries to focus on new technologies to find alternatives for fissile fuel, he noted.
