Iran’s PMO records increase in load/unload operations at country’s ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 24. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports increased by 6.5 percent in the 6th month of the current Iranian year (August 23 through September 22, 2022), compared to the same month of the last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, about 13.6 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. Of this, 6.67 million tons were loaded and 6.9 million tons were unloaded.

“In total, 4.54 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 6th month, which is an increase of 3.4 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 2.5 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and about 2.03 million tons were unloaded. The loaded oil products increased by 3.4 percent and unloaded products - by 3.2 percent compared to the same month of the last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

In addition, 2.41 million tons of essential products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within the mentioned month, which is a decrease of 8.5 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 203,000 tons were loaded and about 2.21 million tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, about 655,000 tons of metal products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the 6th month, which is an increase of 26.7 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 600,000 tons were loaded and about 54,600 tons were unloaded.

“At the same time, 2.4 million tons of construction and mining materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. This is an increase of 14.7 percent compared to the same month of the last Iranian year. Of this, 2.06 million tons were loaded and about 348,000 tons were unloaded,” the statistics said.

Within the 6th month, 58,300 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports. This is an increase of 19 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 9,230 tons were loaded and 49,100 tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, over 565,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 6th month of the current Iranian year, which is an increase of 5.3 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, about 383,000 tons were loaded and about 182,000 tons were unloaded.

Furthermore, 147,000 tons of leather, clothing, fiber, paper, and wood materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the 6th month, which is an increase of 39.2 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 2,400 tons of goods were loaded and about 145,000 tons were unloaded.

About 644,000 tons of small and assorted products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the same month. The loaded/unloaded products increased by 28.7 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 282,000 tons were loaded and about 362,000 tons were unloaded, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 2.15 million tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 6th month, which is an increase of 12.6 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 857,000 tons of container products were loaded and about 1.29 million tons were unloaded.

Moreover, 5.89 million tons of goods were exported and about 3.76 million tons were imported through Iranian ports in the 6th month of the current Iranian year.

Also, nearly 163,000 tons of cargo were loaded and about 400,000 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for transit within the mentioned month.

According to the statistics, 686,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 2.23 million tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for cabotage in the 6th month. Also, 142,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 141,000 tons were unloaded for transshipment.

“Over the 6th month, 18,400 tons of cargo were loaded and 105,000 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for other purposes,” the statistics said.
