Iran's SAIPA hopes to expand via Russia's auto market

TEHRAN, Iran, September 5. Iran's SAIPA automaker has displayed its manufacturing and auto part making capabilities at a recent Auto exhibition in Moscow, CEO of SAIPA Mohammad Ali Teymouri told Trend.

Over 40 Iranian auto part manufacturing companies attended the auto show in Moscow, in addition to the two major Iranian automakers, Iran Khodro and SAIPA, to discuss bilateral cooperation with their counterparts.

"Iran Khodro and SAIPA produce 4,500 vehicles per day," he said, adding that Russia is interested to use the capacities of these auto makers as a strong supply chain for its auto industry.

Russian automakers hope growing cooperation with Iranian companies will help balance its sanctions-hit auto market.

SAIPA held negotiations with Russian automakers and Sberbank to form a joint production platform, the official underlined.

According to negotiations it is possible that this production platform will be financed by the Central Bank of Russia, said Teymouri.
