Iran sees growth in loading/unloading activity at Iran’s Qeshm Port

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 16. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at the Qeshm port of the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) increased by 28.3 percent in the 11th month of the current Iranian year (January 21 through February 19, 2023), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

Over 963,000 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at this port during the reporting month. Of this, more than 463,000 tons were loaded and 500,000 tons were unloaded.

About 47,900 tons of cargo were exported and 6,510 tons were imported through the Qeshm port in the 11th month.

Also, 141 tons of cargo were loaded and 27 tons were unloaded at the port for transit purpose within the mentioned period.

During the 11th month, over 414,000 tons of cargo were loaded and about 453,000 tons were unloaded in the port for cabotage.

Moreover, approximately 40,600 tons of cargo were unloaded at Qeshm port for transshipment, as well as 667 tons were loaded for other purposes for the 11th month.

Some 1,773 tons of essential products, 733 tons of equipment, vehicles, spare parts, 436 tons of chemicals, 557 tons of leather goods, clothing, fibers, paper and wood materials, about 856,000 tons of small and assorted goods, 929 tons of container products, and over 103,000 tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in the Qeshm port within the 11th month of the current Iranian year.

In total, approximately 12.8 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 11th month of the current Iranian year. Of this, 6.9 million tons were loaded and 5.88 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 1.37 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.
