Iran eyes to build new wind power plant

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 28. Iran’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization plan to build a new wind power plant in the country with the capacity to generate 3,000 megawatts of electricity, Spokesman for the organization Jafar Mohammadnejad Sigaroudi said, Trend reports citing the Iranian Energy Ministry.

“In this regard, the organization submitted a project to the Supreme Economic Coordination Council of Iran. After the project is licensed, the place for the construction of the station will be determined and then a tender will be held for the construction of the station,” he said.

The spokesman added that necessary conditions will be created for both local and foreign investors to participate in the tender. Of course, the contracts will be signed with companies only within the framework of the rules of the country.

According to Sigaroudi, the organization also plans to establish new solar panel power plants in the country with the capacity to generate 7,000 megawatts of electricity.

“So, the licenses have already been issued for the setting up of solar panel power plants with the generation capacity of 4,000 megawatt-hours for the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023),” the official noted.

Meanwhile, in the next Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through March 20, 2024), the licenses are expected to be issued for the establishment of solar panel stations with a generation capacity of 3,000 megawatt-hours, Sigaroudi also pointed out.
