Iran records increase in cargo transit via roads

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 19. The volume of cargo transited through Iranian roads increased by 12 percent during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the report of Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, Trend reports.

According to the report, in total, 7.5 million tons of cargo were transited through Iranian roads in 7 months.

Whereas, the figure stood at 5 million tons in the same period of last Iranian year.

Within 7 months, 290 million tons of cargo were transported through roads in Iran, which is an increase of 2 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 285 million tons of cargo were transported via the country's roads in the same period last Iranian year.

At the same time, 74 million passengers were transported via Iranian roads in 7 months. This is 28 percent more than in the same period last Iranian year. Thus, the number of passengers transported through Iranian roads amounted to 58 million in the same period last Iranian year.
