Iran shares data on cargo transportation from Khuzestan Province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 8. In total, 21.8 million tons of cargo were transported from Iran’s Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) to other provinces of the country, during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2022), Director General of Roads and Transport Department of Mohammad Javadnejad told IRNA, Trend reports.

The director general noted that the cargo was transported by 1,132 trucks, which is an increase of 2 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Javadnejad added that the main goods transported from Khuzestan Province were mainly essential products, agricultural products, and industrial and petrochemical products.

“About 119 million cars crossed from the roads of the province within 6 months, which is 27 percent more than the same period last Iranian year,” he said.

There are about 19,000 km of roads in Iran’s Khuzistan Province. Of this, 12,400 kilometers are rural roads.
