UAE company strives to implement more energy projects in Uzbekistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 5. In the future, UAE's Masdar company wants to implement more joint projects in Uzbekistan, said the Chief Financial Officer of the company, Niall Hannigan, Trend reports via Uzdaily.uz.

According to him, the company has a lot of collaborative work ahead, given that Uzbekistan has set large and ambitious goals for the growth of renewable energy sources.

"We are currently implementing 5 projects in Uzbekistan. At the same time, there are plans to expand the already launched joint projects," Hannigan said.

He noted that a clear strategy and big ambitions of Uzbekistan to get more than 25 percent of energy from renewable sources by 2030.

"Masdar entered the country's market through the Nur Navoi Solar project and is proud to be among the first in Uzbekistan in the field of renewable energy. We are confident in the long-term nature of our cooperation and would like to note that today we already have partnership plans for at least 25-30 years," he added.

Notably, Masdar is one of the fastest-growing renewable energy companies in the world, with the expectation of reaching well over 50 GW total capacity by 2030 – and over 100 GW in the following years.
