BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. Uzbekistan is discussing with Italy the transition to a green economy in the food and agricultural sector within the framework of the EU project, as well as the study and implementation of advanced foreign experience in the field of knowledge and innovation in this sector, Trend reports.
According to an official Uzbek source, these issues were discussed by a delegation of the heads of the Ministry of Agriculture Resources of Uzbekistan and a number of its research institutes during a visit to Italy.
During the visit, representatives of Uzbekistan held meetings with the heads of the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, the Italian Council for Agricultural Research and Economic Analysis, the Research Center for Agrarian Policy and Bioeconomics, and the Research Center for Viticulture and Enology.
Italian experts presented presentations on the current state and future prospects of agriculture in Italy, including fruit and vegetable cultivation, viticulture, animal husbandry, fishing, and irrigation systems.
Representatives of the Uzbek delegation visited a number of exhibition venues in the regions of Emilia-Romagna and Veneto to study the best practices of integrating knowledge and innovation in Italian agriculture.
An exchange of views was held on the further development of cooperation and the implementation of joint scientific and practical projects. There were also presentations on the development of agriculture in Uzbekistan and the potential of the industry. Italian experts showed interest in the fundamental reforms carried out in the agricultural sector over the past six years, as well as in the consistent implementation of the strategy for the development of agriculture until 2030.
The parties agreed to close cooperation in supporting the system of knowledge and innovation in agriculture in Uzbekistan, as well as between research institutes.
