BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 12. Tajikistan's Ministry of Agriculture has unveiled its projected agricultural harvest volume for the coming year, Trend reports with reference to asiaplustj.info.
In 2023, Tajikistan intends to grow a total of 3.6 million tons of vegetables and melon, 947,000 tons of wheat, 1.1 million tons of potatoes and 434,000 tons of cotton.
Tajik farmers intend to achieve this result by reintroducing wastelands into agricultural circulation and increasing productivity, thereby not only ensuring food security but also increasing the country's agricultural industry's export potential.
Meanwhile, Tajikistan's harvest of vegetables, as of November 4,2022, amounted to about 1.8 million tons, fruits - 236,000 tons, potatoes more than 702,000 tons, grains about 948,000 tons, including wheat for more than 715,000 tons.
